Claw foot tub SOFA

I do my fair share of online window shopping and usually find stuff I'd like to have. Sometimes, I find really awesome super clever stuff like this vintage claw foot tub made into a sofa. Brilliant!

 I found it in an etsy shop called Ruff House Art. Click the image to see more pictures of these sofas plus they have 3 others listed in their shop.

Fun Fact: I grew up in an old vintage house with only a claw foot tub, no shower. I wonder if the new owners ever remodeled the bathroom?

Bringing Art To Schools - pics galore

I find it interesting to look around the room and notice that some are standing and some are sitting. One just feels more natural and eventually everyone is in their zone.

This one has a very mature color pallet, and he mixed all the colors himself right on the painting.

shhh. Don't tell, but this is one of my favorites! Okay so you might not be able to tell what it is, but this little girl spent the entire time mixing and getting her brown just right. And i think it's absolutely perfect! I love the color combo and simplified lines/shape. Oh, yeah... it's a horse. Now you see it :)

Fun tidbit: When I was out riding my bike this weekend, I saw a little girl waving. Nick was on his bike in front of me and he waved back at her. As I approached her, I waved too and she said, "Hey, you're my art teacher!" SO CUTE!

Last day of 'Paint What You Love'

Today, was my last (and 13th) class of 'Paint What You Love'.

I stopped by all 3 of the schools to pick up paintings that the students are donating to the county courthouse. It was fun popping in unannounced and getting bombarded with hugs before I even made it inside the building.

Some cute thank you's I received from a couple students.


And one class gave me a dark chocolate candy bar. How'd they know? =)

oh Spring, where art thou

It's snowing right now as I type this. Not too unusual for Tahoe this time of year, especially where we live at about 7500 feet. I guess some soft wet snow is better than the tornadoes back home in the midwest.


For a good dose of 'sunshine', I've been making smoothies and sewing brightly colored fabrics.

An update on how the 'Painting What You Love' project is coming along. I have shared this project with 6 classes so far, with 7 more classes to go! Totally loving it!

this gives me the biggest smile.

The teacher wrote down the artists' thoughts on their paintings. This particular school has a Two Way Immersion program. Both of these classes are Spanish Immersion classes so the explanation is in Spanish (which I don't speak a lick of). Luckily, the children speak English as their first language and understood everything I said.

1. Una tortuga nadando con una sirena. 2. Unos diferentes colores con un corazon.

She wrote this one is English. Not only is this little boy a great little artist but his description is exceptional. "I was motorcycling and the dinosaur was chasing me and I jumped right in the air." hehe so cute.

"Una estrella que brinco del oceano."

The colors in this one make me happy. She mixed her own pink, purple, and orange right on her paper.

The morning classes paintings were mostly dry by the end of the day so I stayed and mounted them. These 3 are my favorites from this class. Top left is a mermaid. Top right is a barn. And the bottom one is a girl bicyclist in Paris. Yes, that's the Eiffel Tower...she thought of that all on her own.
