Wild Hair Wednesday

Sometimes holidays gives a sense of freedom to try things a little out of the ordinary. A little ... wild. For Valentines, I wanted to try something new. I have had yarn in my hair for months now. It helps to shape crazy dreads. I have also tried braided pigtails, as you might remember, though I don't like how fat the braids end up. This is how I came up with binding the "braids" with yarn. All I really did was bundle the hair together and criss-cross the yarn back and forth. I love the results!

Design for a good cause

I've been doing some graphic design lately. As I mentioned before, I am volunteering for V-Day this year in South Lake Tahoe, CA. I am going to be in the Vagina Monologues, but I am also helping them with this years promotional items. Here are the design pieces I've done so far.

logo without text. this logo was recreated based on the official VDay logo (displayed at the top) and stickers made for last years event.

The Sex Show flyer hung up around town. I also made a smaller version (without the lengthy description) that was printed on sticker paper and adhered to individual condoms that we have been handing out to promote the event. It's this Thursday!!! Gonna be so much fun!

blog design

For those who actually view my blog in their browser instead of via email or an rss feed, have probably noticed that I have been playing with my blog design. I have had it the same for a year and a half and had planned to custom design it awhile back, but never did. Blogger has made it so much easier to do custom designs now. I'm not 100% sold on this one yet so you might continue to see different headers, etc. If you have a strong preference for one that you see, let me know.

Snowboarding

We hadn't received more than a few inches of snow for over a month so I hadn't been snowboarding in over a month either. Then last Wednesday morning it started. It snowed and snowed so there was fresh powder every day. I went snowboarding 3 days in a row and man was I exhausted by the last day.

Sweethearts, a camera, & V-Day

I am currently offering to embroider a heart (for FREE) to any item purchased in my shop. There are some sexy red and some spunky red legwarmers that would be perfect for this.

I have lots of ideas and supplies to make more, but it gets harder and harder to find a willing photographer (since I am also the model, it makes it hard for me to take the pics). Soooo... I need a new camera. If you are into cameras, let me know if you have any suggestions. Features needed: wireless remote shutter release (to take pics of myself modeling product), xlarge front view screen (so I can see what I'm taking a picture of), and around 12 mp....under $500 (hopefully, a lot under).

I am also busy volunteering for V-Day. I do not enjoy performing in front of people so I had agreed to do behind-the-scenes types of jobs. However, I have been asked to play a small part in the Vagina Monologues. I was really hesitant to commit, but told myself that since it scares me so much, I've really got to do it. You might remember, on my 31 before 32 list I have 'do something scary'. I didn't know what that something scary was going to be, I just told myself...'when I feel that awful anxiety welling up inside of me, that will be it'. I have to admit, I'm enjoying the camaraderie. Plus, I have the funnest (and possibly the smallest) part playing a six year old girl. I have also been doing some design for the events and love the positive reactions from the other girls.

Well, I'm off to the post office to ship my first international sale and then off to see a bunch of houses with our realtor.
