Wow this week has been a whirlwind! I moved out of my current place, filling up a storage unit in Nevada and preparing for my trip back to Kansas. Tuesday was my last day in Tahoe so I enjoyed it the best way I know how. I had a peaceful breakfast on the beach.
Checked out a new-to-me Farmers Market.
And said goodbye to friends.
Wednesday was a full day of traveling. My bestie picked me up at the airport around 10pm and we stayed up late catching up on life.
Thursday, my sister had a baby boy!! I made it to town just in time.
Yesterday, was full of baby holding, errands, and 3 home showings. (I'm in search of new renters. Fingers crossed I find the right fit.)
And lookie there, the week isn't even over yet. I better get out there and do something. haha

bike ride and popsicles
I went for a nice little bike ride today, and timed it just right to stop by the farmers market along the way. It was gorgeously sunny out and I think I finally got some color on my thighs. Woohoo!
A homemade popsicle was the perfect reward and did the trick of cooling me off.
About that popsicle. So it's been on my list to make homemade popscicles this summer. I don't have any fancy molds and wasn't quite sure what I was going to use. So I just improvised, like I always do.
A week or so ago, I made homemade 'ice cream' in the blender using coconut milk, strawberries, pineapple, and maybe a banana (I can't remember now). It made the thickest yummiest ice cream ever.
Look how tall it is!!
I ate part of it and divided the rest up into 2 glasses. Stuck a spoon into each while it was still thick and the spoon stood up in the middle, then stuck it in the freezer.
When I got home today, I let it sit on the counter to thaw a bit. That made it able to slide out. I was surprised how well it stayed on the spoon. Mmmm, it was tasty.

deery
There have been quite a few deer in the yard lately. A few weeks ago, I was surprised to find a whole herd of them right out the picture window. Just about 6 feet from where I was standing (inside the house). I started counting and thought I was done when I reached 6, but then I kept seeing more deer-rières. I knew they'd be gone by the time I ran and got my camera so I just enjoyed watching them bounce down the driveway and across to the neighbors yard.
Today I happened to see one in the back yard and was able to grab my camera in time. She actually stuck around for awhile.
Not sure what's going on with the little tufts of hair sticking up randomly. Maybe getting caught on tree branches. Or fighting?
Eventually, she snuck off to a different part of the yard and found two of her friends hanging out. These last two stuck around so long, I thought they were bedding down for the night. The one on the ground there (you just see ears poking out from behind a bush) didn't get up the whole time I was watching it.
But eventually they disappeared

Snow
Sunday was a lovely day for a bike ride and Monday it snowed ALL day. Which was actually quite lovely for staying in and being cozy by the fire.
The bird feeder was knocked down by the wind and seed was scattered everywhere. Not to worry, the birds and chipmunks didn't let it go to waste.
As you can see, the birds around here seem to be well fed.
I went snowboarding twice this week, which is a record for this year. Yesterday, was really good. There was finally enough snow in the trees that I felt comfortable playing in there the whole time.
And today it's sunny and warm again. LOVE the weather here this year!
Hope you're getting out and enjoying what ever mother nature brings you.

bike ride
Sunday, was predicted to be one of the last nice days for awhile. So we hopped on our bikes and went on a 25 mile ride. I hadn't ridden my bike in months. Well actually, I hadn't gotten much exercise at all in months. Surprisingly, besides slightly sore knees and rear end, I held up fairly well.
And the gorgeous views were a good distraction. There were lots of cows, horses, even sheep, mules, chickens, and goats along the way. It was late afternoon so in attempt to make it home before dark, I only stopped once to take a few shots.
Here's a fun way to visualize the route. The mountains run parallel on the west side. The southeast corner of Lake Tahoe can be seen on the far left.
So who's coming to visit? =)

off trail hike
Yesterday, I went for a nice long hike near the house. I've always stayed on the path, but this time ventured off to go exploring.
the first gate
It was a nice foggy day, perfect temperature for a winter hike.
Where we decided to venture off the trail.
and just go straight up. It was pretty steep and sandy.
Fun with rocks.
The destination in view.
Miss Pecker.
We found a nice spot on the rocks to have lunch. This was the view.
The sun decided to come out and play for a bit.
Sliding back down went twice as fast as climbing up =)
The reward.... Georgia mud from DQ =)
